PLM FilmSoc co-founder bags top prize at 1st 'Istorya ng Pag-Asa Film Festival'

"Ang Biyahe ni Marlon," a short documentary by PLM Film Society co-founder Florence M. Rosini won best picture at the first Istorya ng Pag-Asa Film Festival, spearheaded by the Office of the Vice President.
During the premiere night and awarding ceremonies held at Glorietta 4 Cinemas in Makati last June 12, Rosini's film bested 14 other finalists, selected by a jury comprised of Film Development Council of the Philippines chair Liza Diño, filmmakers Quark Henares, Dan Villegas and Clodualdo "Doy" Del Mundo, and seasoned actress Shamaine Buencamino, who served as jury chair.
The film features Marlon Fuentes, an Uber Driver with Tourette's Syndrome. The film aims to shed light about the condition through Fuentes' inspiring story.

Meanwhile, another PLM FilmSoc alumnus made it to the Top 15 of the film festival. Kimberly Ilaya's "Liwanag" is about Maricor Book, a blind woman who has fulfilled her dream of becoming a school teacher.
Ilaya served as PLM Film Society's creative director, S.Y. 2015-2016. Adele Ann Oqueriza, who was managing director of the organization during said term, is also part of the production team of "Liwanag."
